Bandzoogle's "Site-wide music player" is a great option if you want your site-visitors to listen to your music continuously as they navigate from page to page on your website.

On any given page, the listener can access the user-friendly audio controls in the lower left corner of their browser window.

Bandzoogle is the platform used in this case. It's a do-it-yourself website solution catering to musicians (as you might have guessed from the name).

Bandzoogle is marketed as the most powerful band website platform but it's also a robust solution for podcasters, comedians, and anyone else who wants to publish audio on the Web in a professional manner.

Three ways to add audio

There are three ways to add audio to your site. Music files must be in MP3 format.

1) The Site-wide music player is a great option if you want your site-visitors to listen to your audio continuously as they navigate from page to page on your site. The audio does not stop as links are clicked and different pages are viewed, as long as the visitor stays within the confines of your website. On any given page, the listener can access the user-friendly audio controls in the lower left-hand corner of their browser window. This feature is enabled for petevegas.com if you would like to see it in action.

2)  The Audio player feature appears in individual pages (where you insert it) and stops playing when the user navigates to other pages.

3) Finally, the Album feature allows you to add downloadable MP3 and WAV files to your site.

Bandzoogle offers three plans to choose from and you do get value for your money. All three include a boatload of features, some of which are worth mentioning.

Noteworthy features

- Music download store
- Merch store
- Unlimited data transfer (bandwidth)
- Twitter, Facebook, and Myspace sync
- Text message broadcast
- Mailing list
- Email accounts @ your domain
- Podcast
- Blog
- Poll

As with most do-it-yourself solutions, there are hundreds of professional site designs to choose from or you can build from a blank page. As for petevegas.com, we started with a prefab design and added custom graphics to give it some uniqueness.

The interface is user-friendly and solid. For example, I moved in and out of the HTML and CSS editor with no problems. Some do-it-yourself editors can be finicky and difficult to work (Godaddy's Website Tonight comes to mind) but that's not the case with Bandzoogle.

I spent quite a few hours working with Bandzoogle and did encounter a few minor challenges. I will talk about those challenges in a future blog post. Overall, I think it's a good solution and would recommend it to anyone looking to publish and/or sell audio content on the Internet.

Please note, this client recently took down his website because he is focusing on other projects. However, if you are a musician looking for a user-friendly website platform conducive to your marketing goals, I encourage you to check out Bandzoogle.
